{"id":42657,"date":"2025-07-23T12:59:15","date_gmt":"2025-07-23T10:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/optit.sviluppo.host\/caso-duso\/united-nations-environment-programme\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T00:11:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T23:11:50","slug":"united-nations-environment-programme","status":"publish","type":"caso-duso","link":"https:\/\/optit.sviluppo.host\/en\/what-we-do\/use-cases\/united-nations-environment-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"United Nations Environment Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>As part of the <\/span><b>United Nations<\/b> <b>Environment Programme\u2019s District Energy in Cities Initiative,<\/b><span> Optit was selected as <\/span><b>ENOVA&#8217;s technical partner<\/b><span> for a high-impact pre-feasibility study: the interconnection of <\/span><b>Belgrade<\/b><span>&#8216;s district heating networks with the aim of optimising the system and increasing its sustainability by integrating new waste heat sources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The project, carried out in collaboration with <\/span><b>Beogradske Elektrane<\/b><span> and the<\/span><b> University of Belgrade<\/b><span>, was designed to enhance the <\/span><b>recovery of excess heat<\/b><span> from production plants outside the city and of harnessing the energy produced by a <\/span><b>new waste-to-energy plant<\/b><span>, redesigning the distribution system around newly designated regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To achieve this, Optit deployed its <\/span><b>OptiDEN<\/b><span> platform<\/span><b>,<\/b><span> simulating over <\/span><b>100 potential interconnection scenarios<\/b><span>. The model accounted for both the technical and economic constraints, providing a detailed assessment of the necessary investments and potential efficiency gains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The result?
