PLAMES

Planning the transition with multi-energy models.
Markets

PLAMES (Planning and Modelling Energy Systems) is a European Research and Innovation project funded by Horizon 2020, launched in 2019 with a three-year duration. Its objective is to provide the tools needed for the planning of multi-energy systems (electricity, heat, gas and energy for transport) on a large scale and to support strategic decisions in the energy transition. Collaborating with excellent partners such as the University of Aachen, the Fraunhofer Institute, the University of Bologna and the Turkish utility provider OEDAS, we created a method and a solution that integrate analytical models and tools to simulate and optimise the projected outcomes of energy systems. The model takes into account physical, economic and environmental constraints, and is aimed at charting clear decarbonisation trajectories on a regional and national scale. Created with the contribution of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, under grant agreement no. 863922.
