TUPLES (Trustworthy Planning and Scheduling with Learning and Explanations) is a three-year project funded by Horizon Europe. Its aim is to make AI-based planning and scheduling systems more transparent, robust and scalable. The goal is ambitious: to increase confidence in smart technologies, developing algorithms that are not only high-performing, but also comprehensible and verifiable.
Optit’s contribution is focused around two real-world use cases in the energy and waste collection sectors, which allows for the new methods to be tested in highly complex settings. We have also developed an innovative
Competition Platform that enables the evaluation of the effectiveness of different analytical models and approaches, not just their results, within open innovation processes in the scientific domain.

Through TUPLES, we work to integrate conceptual and data-driven methods with particular attention to human/machine interaction. We believe that the power of artificial intelligence is best harnessed when it is accompanied by clear explanations and shared decision-making processes, fostering understanding and facilitating adoption by users.
