Upgrade DH
Using good practice to improve district heating systems.
Upgrade DH is a Coordination and Support Action funded by Horizon 2020 that started in 2018 with a three-year duration. The project focused on improving the efficiency of existing district heating systems, proposing scalable and replicable templates for the European level.
By involving countries with diverse demands and limitations in their District Heating & Cooling systems, including Lithuania, Poland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, Italy and Denmark, the project aimed to create a common base of knowledge and tools to accompany operators and public decision-makers in the energy transition.
At Optit, we dedicated ourselves to the analysis and qualification of retrofitting modifications on-site. Our contribution focused on outlining technical and financial strategies to optimise heat production and distribution through the application of our simulation models, forecasting scenarios and decision-making tools and supporting stakeholders in the development of more sustainable and resilient solutions.
Upgrade DH was an important opportunity to disseminate knowledge and best practices, helping to make the district heating sector in Europe greener and more efficient.
Funded by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 program – Grant Agreement no. 785014.
