Liquigas
La sfida
To strategically address the evolution of its distribution network, Liquigas, one of the leading Italian operators in the supply of LPG and LNG, has chosen Optit as a consulting partner.
There were two main objectives:
- to optimise existing distribution by reducing costs and gaps in service provision;
- to evaluate future scenarios, simulating the expansion of both the client base and storage hub network.
The Optit team developed a proprietary algorithm which can be integrated into company systems through interactive “Dashboards-as-a-Service”, to simulate and compare alternative distribution configurations.
The model:
- calculates the optimal customer-storage allocation, minimising overall costs;
- models the entire logistics flow, from the primary loading base, to storage, all the way to delivery;
- streamlines the reallocation of drivers and operators, maximising the resource yield.
The algorithm was tested using historical data and benchmarked against a meaningful baseline.
The optimised proposal achieved a 4.3% reduction in total costs across the entire supply chain, with measurable impacts at every stage of the process. This result reaffirms the robustness of the method in enabling a more effective, sustainable and scalable distribution.
